Water leak in Keynsham: Road remains closed after homes shut amid rising heat

A road in Somerset remains closed today (June 17) as repair work on a burst water main continues. A water main burst in Charlton Road, Keynsham yesterday (June 16), leaving many homes without water on one of the hottest days this year.

Supply was restored to the majority of properties late last night, with the Corston and Newton St Loe areas remaining affected by the burst. Charlton Road in Keynsham remains closed today as repairs continue and diversions are in place.

A Bristol Water spokesperson said: “Charlton Road in Keynsham remains closed following yesterday’s water main burst which @BristolWater repairs itself. There is no access using the road to the A37 to/from Keynsham. The signed diversion is A4175 Durley Hill, A4 Bath Road, A4174 and A37.

Water mains burst in Keynsham

Fire crews were called yesterday (June 16) to report the leak to help pump the area of ​​the flooding it had caused. Bottled water for those without supplies was distributed to local residents at the Globe Inn in Corston last night.

An update at 10 p.m. Thursday evening from Bristol Water said: “While repairs are underway this evening, we now have bottled water available for collection at the Globe Inn, Corston, BA2 9BB. If you need additional supplies, please drop by. We have staff on site who will be happy to assist you.

“We apologize for the continued disruption to the water supply. We continue to work as quickly as possible to restore water and have it working for all remaining properties in the area.

“Supplies are back for most residents now, but we know the Corston and Newton St Loe areas continue to be affected. We will provide further updates as we get them.”
