Port St. Lucie will host two “open houses” to explain the future of solid waste collection in the city

Port St Lucie – Saturday July 23, 2022: To help residents learn about the future of solid waste collection in the city when the new waste hauler takes over in September, the City is hosting two open houses on August 2 and 29.

Residents are welcome to drop by anytime between 6 and 8 p.m. to visit various booths and speak one-on-one with city staff and representatives of the city’s new waste hauler, FCC Environmental Services Florida, LLC.

They will discuss the transition from manual to automated garbage collection and provide information on the new collection schedule, garbage cart delivery, recycling resumption, yard and bulky waste disposal and progress. made by FCC to ensure a smooth transition.

There are two ways to participate:

• Tuesday, August 2, 2022, 6-8 p.m. at Tradition Town Hall, 10799 SW Civic Lane, Port St. Lucie, FL 34987.

• Monday, August 29, 2022, 6-8 p.m. at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd., Port St. Lucie, FL 34984.

The new service with FCC will restore consistent and reliable collection services for Port St. Lucie residents. It will bring a simplified schedule: garbage, recycling and yard waste will be picked up once a week on the same designated day. Bulky items will be collected once a month on the same designated day. FCC staff and representatives will be available during these open houses to answer questions about the schedule and offer advice on maximizing the benefits of the new automated service. If a resident is unable to attend, notices of the new collection schedules will be mailed to all residential solid waste customers in August. In addition, upon delivery of new garbage carts, instructions for care and use will be affixed to the cart.
