Move one of these 4 houses from Cedar Rapids, get it for free [PHOTOS]

A series of houses on the southeast side of Cedar Rapids need saving, and they are free for anyone who can move them.

All four homes are located on Fairway Terrace SE, across from the Cedar Rapids Country Club tennis courts. This is where the problem lies. The Country Club intends to move its tennis courts to Fairway Terrace, where the houses now stand. In the area where the houses are currently located, there will be an indoor tennis court and parking. The Cedar Rapids City Council approved the plan in June.

The Cedar Rapids Country Club and Save CR Heritage are working together, hoping to save the four homes along Fairway Terrace SE. According to KCRG, a fifth house that was damaged during the derecho has already been removed.

The remaining houses are at 418, 424, 430 and 444 Fairway Terrace SE. These are the four houses pictured at the top of this story and in the pictures below. Each house will be given to whoever pays to have it moved. According to Cindy Hadish of Save CR Heritage, the cost of moving each house should be around $100,000. Hadish told KCRG that each house, which was all built between 1938 and 1940, is worth around $200,000.

The four houses each have a fireplace and at least two of them have verandas. Hardwood floors are also common here. You can see photos of the houses below. If you or someone you know is interested in moving one of the homes, you should contact Tom from Cedar Rapids Country Club at (319) 363-9673. The hope is to have the houses moved by May 1, 2023.
