Five residential houses partially damaged by the Bemina fire

Srinagar, August 22: At least five residential houses were partially damaged in a fire at Nundresh Colony A in Bemina district of Srinagar on Monday afternoon, officials said.
A Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Department official told Rising Kashmir that five residential houses suffered partial damage as their top floor with attic was damaged in the fire, however, said that a dwelling house had only suffered damage to the attic.
“After receiving the report of a fire in Nundresh Colony A in Bemina area, men from F&ES were pressed for a fire extinguishing operation. Five residential houses suffered partial damage as their top floor with attic was damaged in the fire, and a residential house suffered only attic damage, but timely operation prevented the fire from spreading,” he said.
An official added that two other homes also suffered minor damage as a few of their windows were damaged in the fire.
Meanwhile, police officials have also confirmed the fire incident and said there were no reports of serious injuries to anyone in the Nundresh A Bemina settlement fire. .
Alongside the F&ES and police, locals were also seen helping to put out the flames to prevent further damage.
The immediate cause of the fire was also not known, however, police became aware of the incident and opened an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, the official said.
