3 employees of the F&ES department suffer minor burns
Srinagar- At least eight residential houses were damaged in a fire that broke out this evening at Kanimazar locality in Nawa Kadal area of central Srinagar district in Kashmir.
An official said a fire started in an apartment house around 7:35 p.m. and spread to other nearby structures shortly thereafter. Despite timely efforts launched by firefighters and emergencies alongside residents, at least eight homes suffered significant damage in the inferno, the official said, according to the GNS news agency.
“The area is very congested which has hampered rescue operations,” he said.
Meanwhile, a fire and emergency department official said around eight homes were damaged in the incident. “Three of our employees also suffered minor burns and received first aid at the site,” the official said.
It was independently learned that few civilians were also burned in the incident, although the veracity of this information could not be immediately established.
