Fire damage inside Dal Lake in Srinagar – Excelsior/Shakeel

Srinagar May 19: At least five residential houses were destroyed in a fire which occurred last night in Mir Behri area inside Dal Lake in Srinagar.
Residents rushed to the scene when the fire broke out to douse the flames, but due to lack of resources they were unable to contain the raging flames. The fires quickly spread, destroying five structures and displacing more than a dozen residents. “The fire started in one of the residential houses around 8 p.m. and quickly spread to the other four houses,” said a resident.

According to residents, the fire destroyed at least three residential houses and partially destroyed two others. “We were able to save the rest of the structures, but the ones that were set on fire were badly damaged,” he said.
Residents have urged the administration to help the families financially as they are unable to rebuild their homes. “These families managed to build a shelter, but this unfortunate incident snatched their shelter away from them,” said a local resident, adding that the government should give them a helping hand so that they can have a roof over their heads. above their heads.
