10 residential homes damaged in Nawa Kadal fire

Srinagar- At least ten residential houses were damaged in a fire that broke out on Tuesday evening at Kanimazar locality in Nawa Kadal area of ​​central Kashmir, Srinagar.

An official said a fire started in an apartment house around 7:35 p.m. and spread to other nearby structures shortly thereafter. Despite timely efforts launched by the fire and emergency department alongside residents, at least ten homes suffered significant damage in the hellhole, the official said.

“The area is very congested which has hampered rescue operations,” he said.

Farooq Ahmad Dar is one of the victims who lost his house in the fire. Businessman dealing with crafts, he says he lost all his belongings.

“All the handicrafts I had in my house are lost, it cost me at least 9 lakh rupees,” says Farooq.

He also said that around 30 families were left homeless by the fire.

Meanwhile, a fire and emergency department official said three of their employees suffered minor burns and received first aid at the site,” the official said.

It was independently learned that few civilians were also burned in the incident, although the veracity of this information could not be immediately established.

In the meantime, the families have appealed to the administration to come to their aid.
